Afghan Peace Watch (APW) profiles all provinces of Afghanistan, providing general information about them coupled with insightful data related to their governance, security, and violence. Through the provincial profile, APW studies each province individually to enhance the understanding of politics, security situation, and peace efforts. Provincial profiles include in-depth information about the provinces, as well as data on active militant groups, major security incidents, and territorial control. The description also highlights local factors contributing to insurgency on the provincial level. The information in the Provincial Profile’s section is based on first-hand reports gathered by APW’s network of journalists from all over Afghanistan.
