Biden admin mulling over troop presence beyond May

KABUL: The United States has warned that the withdrawal of U.S. troops from Afghanistan could be halted because the Taliban “is not complying” with the peace agreement.
In a press conference held in Washington D.C., the U.S. spokesperson for Department of Defense John Kirby claimed that the Taliban had not fulfilled their commitments concerning the peace deal the two countries inked in February 2020.
He explained the United States reserved the opportunity, with the rest of its North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) allies, to review the situation about the next measures to be taken.
Kirby notified the current U.S. administration, led by Joe Biden, had launched dialogues on U.S. forces in Afghanistan with its close allies.
