KABUL: Chairman of the High Council for National Reconciliation (HCNR) on Sunday pledged to step up the Doha peace negotiations, adding the republican team was prepared to negotiate with full authority on agenda-related issues.
During a virtual meeting with several countries’ representatives and ambassadors, Abdullah, flanked by other peace officials, briefed the international partners on the latest developments in the peace process inside the country and Doha.
The international allies announced their support for the country’s peace efforts, truce, and humanitarian values, calling for an urgent ceasefire and rapid negotiations.
A statement released on Sunday by HCNR said State Minister for Peace Affairs, Sayed Sadat Mansoor Naderi, Chief Negotiator Masoom Stanekzai, and Deputy Foreign Minister Mirwais Nab also attended the meeting.
Meanwhile, Abdullah said, “Our negotiating team is in Qatar. They’re back there on time. They had plenty of meetings with different stakeholders.”
On the other hand, Stanekzai stated negotiations on the talks’ agenda were pending and that substantive discussions on the points decided would begin by the end of this week.
This was the second monthly meeting of the Regional and Foreign Affairs Committee of the High Council for National Reconciliation with Kabul’s diplomatic corps representatives.
