KABUL: The High council for National Reconciliation leadership committee (HCNR) on Monday met with the republican negotiators and conferred on the latest signs of progress in the Afghan peace negotiations.
Abdullah Abdullah, the head of the reconciliation body, confirmed the meeting, adding the HCNR provided the team with a clear guideline for the next round of talks.
He said that the republican team has the full support of the nation and government as they are fully mandated with discussing the peace agenda.
“We are committed to achieving lasting peace. We ask the Taliban to do their part. We are looking for a successful second round,” Abdullah says.
The meeting comes while the government’s negotiating team was scheduled to fly to Qatar on Tuesday.
