Technical team being formed to counsel republican negotiators in Doha talks

KABUL: Leadership Committee of the High Council for National Reconciliation (HCNR) has decided to create a specialized group for consulting the government’s negotiating team during negotiations with the Taliban in Qatar.
Feraidoon Khwazoon, the spokesman for HCNR, said several members of the body’s Leadership Committee would be part of the advising and technical team that would provide views and directions to the government’s negotiating team.
The decision was taken during a two-day meeting of HCNR members on Monday, he said.
This comes as the government and the Taliban negotiating teams went on a three-week break on December 12 and talks are scheduled to resume on January 5 in Doha.
