Ghani, Abdullah confer on next phases of peace talks

KABUL: President Ashraf Ghani and Chairman of High Council for National Reconciliation (HCNR) on Sunday discussed the venue and date of the next phases of intra-Afghan negotiations. 
In a series of tweets, the Presidential Palace notified that Ghani and Abdullah met Sunday morning when Abdullah shared the report of the HCNR leadership committee’s second meeting. 
The meeting also discussed the venue and time for future phases of peace negotiations between the government and Taliban delegations.
The HCNR, established about seven months ago, held the first meeting of its leadership on November 26, followed by a second gathering last Saturday.
This comes as the Intra-Afghan negotiations are scheduled and confirmed resume on January 5 in Doha of Qatar. 
The government and Taliban’s negotiating teams went on a recess on December 12 for a period of three weeks following the finalization of procedural for the talks.
