BALKH: Journalists and media officials in northern Balkh province want the Afghan government to take the required and preventative measures to ensure the media community’s security.
At a teleconference on Saturday, organized by the Afghanistan Independent Human Rights Commission (AIHRC), they shared their security concerns.
Ensuring journalists’ safety and security, preserving their rights and freedom of expression in peace talks, and facilitating access to information were the central issues discussed.
AIHRC officials pledged to organize programs in coordination with the Afghan government to support journalists.
This comes as journalists believe that free media presence and its independent functioning should constitute the main issues discussed during the Afghan peace talks.
