Chief negotiator Stanikzai discusses Afghan peace with Qatari PM

KABUL: The Republican team’s chief negotiator, Massoum Stanikzai, has met the Qatari Deputy prime minister on Monday to discuss the latest peace developments.

At the meeting, both sides analyzed the recent progress made in the peace process and exchanged ideas to ensure its success.

Kabul’s negotiating team’s head expressed the Afghan government’s gratitude to Qatar for its contributions during the first round of talks.

Meanwhile, a reliable source that wants to remain anonymous said that the Afghan government’s peace negotiation team would return to Kabul today (Tuesday) afternoon from Doha.

Some of the team members were earlier reported to return on Monday, for a break from their three-month-long negotiations and to consult on agenda items.
