KABUL: President Ashraf Ghani, in a cabinet meeting, on Monday said that the following round of the intra-Afghan peace process should be held in Afghanistan.
Ghani’s remarks come as National Security Advisor Hamdullah Mohib has also recently proposed that the next round of negotiations should be held within the country.
Reiterating that the Taliban are Afghans, Ghani says when the Taliban want to resume the talks within the country, the government is ready to negotiate.
Meanwhile, the president stressed that people have the right to be kept up to date with the peace progress and negotiation topics.
This is while the Afghan government negotiators are scheduled to return to Kabul on Monday, taking their break from three-month-long discussions until the next round of the talks gets going.
