BALKH: Religious scholars in northern Balkh province strive to impress the idea on the warring parties that the ongoing conflict was benefitting nobody and thus should be brought to a halt.
Religious clerics who gathered in a meeting in Mazar-e-Sharif city, the provincial capital, on Friday emphasized that the warring parties should stop killing civilians in the country.
They believed that the more the war escalated, the higher would be the civilians being killed. “War should be thus ceased.”
The announcement of a ceasefire and the continuation of intra-Afghan peace talks are among the participants’ main demands.
The scholars considered peace one of the country’s primary needs, saying everybody should play their key role in establishing durable peace.
