KABUL: Senior Coordination Committee for Peace Affairs welcomes the inauguration of High Council for National Reconciliation (HCNR) during its fourth meeting in Kabul on Wednesday.
Sayed Sadat Mansoor Naderi, state minister for peace and a member of the negotiating team of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan chairing the meeting, said that the opening of HCNR is a “good news for Afghan people.”
The meeting attended by committee members discussed the current peace process emphasizing the role of the committee in advancing the peace program.
HCNR a designated government body assigned to deliver guidance on the Afghan peace process and the establishment of a proper reconciliation.
HCNR was established in August this year, composed of 46 members and Chairman Dr. Abdullah Abdullah.
Meanwhile, the Afghan peace talks initially started on September 12, and the negotiating teams have so far agreed on contentious working procedures, setting the stage for more substantive discussions and agenda.
