Taliban discuss Doha talks’ progress with Khalilzad

KABUL: The political deputy and head of the political office of the Taliban, Mullah Baradar, and the Taliban’s negotiating team met the US special envoy for Afghanistan Zalmay Khalilzad and his accompanying team on Saturday night.


“Yesterday evening, the political deputy and head of the political office of the IEA [Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan] Mullah Baradar, the head of the Intra-Afghan negotiations Shaykh Abdul Hakeem sahib and the delegation accompanying them had a meeting with the special envoy of the US Zalmay Khalilzad and his team,” Mohammad Naeem, the Taliban spokesman stated on his Twitter account.


“In general, the value of the agreement signed between the two sides was discussed,” Naeem said.


Meanwhile, the parties also conversed regarding the Taliban prisoners’ release, removal of the group’s leaders and members’ names from the blacklist, and the recent significant progress in the peace talks.
