BALKH: The Taliban insurgent group on Monday dynamited a bridge in northern Faryab province, thus cutting supply lines to 10 villages, local officials confirmed.
Rebels destroyed a bridge in Ghazari village of Khwaja Sabzposh district of the province, confirmed Faryab governor Naqibullah Fayek and Faryab police spokesman Abdul Karim Yurash.
Local sources say the bridge was 20 meters long and five meters wide and was blew up by a landmine implanted by the insurgents.
However, the Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid told OrbandNews admitted the bridge had been demolished but not the group fighters. “It is the handiwork of some circles within the Afghan government.”
Photos received by OrbandNews from locals show the bridge destroyed. This is while police assure of rebuilding the bridge soon.
