BALKH: Several women’s rights activists and officials in northern Samangan province have emphasized long-lasting peace and stability and the need for a permanent ceasefire in the country.
They engaged in a two-day workshop organized by the Independent Directorate of Local Governance concerning women’s role in the peace process.
Samangan Governor Mohammad Daud Kalkani says that the peace discussions that resumed in Qatar should take into under consideration women’s role, among other critical issues.
Women’s rights and advocates in the rally underlined that women had made great strides over the past two decades; therefore, they should be involved in the peace process.
Achieving lasting peace, announcing a ceasefire, women’s active and political participation, and protecting women’s rights and their achievements in the peace process were the main demands of the participants.
