KABUL: Several Afghan women athletes from Jawzjan province launched a sports competition on Monday to support the current peace negotiations as they called for an end to war and conflicts in the country.

Around 38 women contestants participated in the competition that was organized in Sheberghan city, the capital of Jawzjan province.

The competition consisted of sports like cycling, soccer, and volleyball.

The contestants stressed that by organizing such schemes and competitions, they wanted to convey a message to the warring parties to halt the conflicts and work for peace.

The athletes underlined that the war had devastated the people on one hand and the Covid-19 pandemic had caused many problems on the other.

Women competitors in Jawzjan stated that they could achieve their dreams and goals if the country’s war ended.
