BALKH: Local officials said the Taliban destroyed a 40-meter bridge in northern Faryab province last week. However, local sources say it was a road, not a bridge.

Radio Television Afghans reported that the bridge was in the Nahrin district that connected Qaisar with Maiman city, the provincial capital. The reason for destructing the bridge by the Taliban was cited as preventing Afghan security forces from entering the Qaisar district.

However, local sources told OrbandNews that the bridge hadn’t been demolished; instead, it was only a part of the road.

Moreover, the sources said the Taliban had also forbidden taking any pictures of the area. “One person who tried to do so was beaten by the insurgents and his mobile broken.”

This comes following reports of the Taliban destroying public works and infrastructure in other provinces as well.

No word from the Taliban group yet.
