KABUL: NATO’s Senior Civilian Representative and Ambassador Stefano Pontecorvo discussed support for the Afghan government and forces with the Second Vice President Sarwar Danish on Saturday.
“There was a full agreement between us on the fact that the Taliban must accept the current realities of Afghanistan and reduce violence,” he said.
Meanwhile, on his Twitter account, Danish stated their discussion regarding NATO’s collaboration with the Afghan government, the peace negotiations with the Taliban, and the ANSF was constructive.
The Taliban’s deliberate postponement of the peace process was an excuse, and if their violence and pretexts continued, the Afghan government and people would lose trust in the whole peace process and the opportunity made available for peace would be lost, he added.
“NATO’s Senior Civilian Representative assured of a firm support for the Afghan government, the ANSF, and human rights values in the country,” he concluded.
