BALKH: Civil society activists and youths from northern Balkh province launched a million-signature petition for supporting the ongoing peace process in the country.
The petition was launched on Saturday in a campaign rally that started from Rawza Mubarak Shrine in Mazar-e-Sharif city, the capital of Balkh province, and continued to other parts of the city on Saturday.
Organizers of the program say that they would share the signatures they collect from people across the province and beyond with major international organizations, including the UN.
Ensuring a stable peace, end of the ongoing war, declaring a ceasefire, supporting the peace process, as well as preventing civilian casualties are the pleas of the petition.
The activists want to send a message to the conflict parties that the Afghan public was tired of war and they wanted peace in their country.
