43 security personnel, civilians rescued from Taliban custody


KABUL: The Ministry of Defense (MoD) on Saturday said 43 security personnel, including four civilians, were rescued from the Taliban’s detention during an operation in southern Zabul province.

MoD, in a statement, said that the operation was launched in Shah Joy district of Zabul province on Saturday night.

It added 20 of the 43 soldiers were sent to Qalat city, capital of Zabul province, and the rest joined security forces in other parts of the province.

The soldiers promised to continue their services for protecting public lives and their properties from enemies, the source added.

The Taliban haven’t commented in this regard so far.
