Herat residents stage sit-in against delays in peace process

HERAT: Inhabitants of western Herat province on Saturday erected a tent to protest the inordinate delays in the ongoing peace process in the country, calling for the launch of intra-Afghan negotiations.

Organized by the National Peace Movement, the protest is aimed at raising objection against the ongoing obstacles, pretexts, civilian killings, delays and obstructions to the intra-Afghan peace talks.

The peace movement which always strives to bring about national unity has this time pitched a sit-in peace tent in collaboration with civil society organizations, and peace-loving Afghans and leaders.

The protest is supposed to share the legitimate demands and proposals of Afghans with the warring parties.

The protestors warned the tent would remain in place unless the intra-Afghan negotiations begin and the legitimate demands of the people are met with a positive response.
