BALKH: A number of students at the northern Takhar University erected a Taliban flag on their dormitory Saturday morning, confirmed the provincial police.
Khaliullah Aseer, the spokesperson for the provincial police headquarters, told Afghan Peace Watch (APW) that a white flag associated with the Taliban was hoisted at Takhar University in the provincial capital Taluqan city.
He said the flag has been removed by security personnel and a probe launched into the incident.
Earlier, it was described as the handiwork of some students; however, there has been so far no word from the university officials.
