KABUL: The Taliban on Wednesday claimed having received a credible tipoff about there being an attack planned against the remaining 400 Taliban prisoners to be released from the Pul-i-Charkhi prison, said a statement from the insurgent group.
Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid said, “a group of Daesh gunmen in coordination and cooperation with Kabul administration intelligence, some military personnel and prison check-post commanders plan to conduct an attack against vehicles that are to transfer the remaining released prisoners.”
Mujahid warned that “they seek to disrupt the negotiations process with this crime and exact revenge on the prisoners.”
He said the Taliban were deeply concerned about this, urging all parties to take measures to prevent the threat and shift their prisoners carefully and safely; otherwise, they would be responsible.
