11 Taliban insurgents shun violence in Faryab

Balkh: At least 11 Taliban insurgents, including a local commander, have renounced violence in northern Faryab province, a statement from the provincial office of the National Security Directorate (NDS) said on Tuesday.

The statement said Mullah Sayed Ezatullah, known as Mubarez, the commander of a Taliban group, along with 10 of his companions, joined the peace process on Tuesday afternoon.

The men handed over an RBG rocket, seven Kalashnikov rifles, and other equipment such as assault rifles and satellite radios to the intelligence personnel.
Security officials and civilians welcomed those who shunned insurgency in Maimana, the provincial capital, calling their move beneficial to the country and the nation.
