The Afghanistan Independent Human Rights Commission (AIHRC) said Saturday that the Taliban prisoner release process should be subjected to conditions.
A statement released by the watchdog advised the government to learn from international experience with regard to a conditional release of the detainees.
It said that an unconditional release of prisoners would strengthen the culture of impunity and would be a great injustice to the victims of war, besides bringing about horrible circumstances.
The commission called on the members of the Consultative Loya Jirga on Peace to be careful in their decisions, as well as keep in view the families of the victims and respect their rights. The AIHRC also highlighted that the international community had a responsibility to defend human rights and ensure justice.
