KABUL: Following the recent hike in intense clashes between the Taliban and the NRF forces, the Taliban Supreme Leader Mullah Haibatullah Akhundzada has made new appointments to lead the fight against NRF
Mullah Abdul Qayum Zakir was appointed as military chief for Panjshir and Andarab districts, Mullah Muhammad Tayyib Haqqani as police chief and Mullah Musafir as military corps commander on Sunday.
This comes on the heels of 40 Taliban fighters being captured by NRF forces in Panjsher on 19 August (the 103rd Independence Day of Afghanistan).
Furthermore, at least 10 Taliban fighters were killed and wounded in a clash with NRF forces in Khenj district of Panjsher province on Monday night, sources told APW
On the other hand, sources added that four Taliban fighters were killed during an NRF forces ambush that targeted a Taliban’s vehicle with a rocket shell in the Farkhar district of Takhar province on Monday night.
Moreover, following the deployment of fresh fighters to suppress NRF forces in Panjsher, dozens of families (accused of having links with NRF) have been forcibly displaced in the Dara and Paryan districts of Panjshir province.
