ZABUL: In the latest move, the Taliban have ordered the residents of Qalat, the provincial capital of southern Zabul province, not to let their women attend wedding receptions.

In a campaign of shouting from cars, the Taliban members from the Department of Prevention of Vice and Propagation of Virtue announced the new imposition.

Local sources told Afghan Peace Watch (APW) that besides preventing women from going to wedding ceremonies, the Taliban also re-iterated their ban on youth gatherings, shaved beards and card games.

“If anyone violates the decree, they will have to endure severe punishment,” the Taliban warned, saying the culprits’ pleas wouldn’t be accepted then.
