KABUL: Further to the crackdown on journalists, the Taliban, in a recent instance, have humiliated and intimidated journalists in northern Takhar province.

The spokesman for the Takhar police headquarters has warned reporters that if news against the Taliban were leaked, they would be prosecuted and investigated.

Meanwhile, journalists have been removed from groups of police-related updates to pressure and intimidate them.

Sources from Takhar journalists told APW that the spokesperson of the Takhar police headquarters called the work of some reporters there as against the policy of the Islamic Emirate and warned them not to report on negative cases.

This comes as journalists from other provinces in the north and northeast of Afghanistan also grumble about the increasing restrictions and pressures for their work.
