KABUL: In his recent two-day visit to Uzbekistan, US special representative for Afghanistan hailed the country for playing an essential part in assisting Afghans.

“Important humanitarian hub in Termez, Tashkent continues to provide Afghanistan with electricity,” Thomas West tweeted.

The envoy noted that Uzbek leadership promoted shared priorities of engaging with the Taliban on terrorism, human rights, and stability, calling the visit to Tashkent productive.

West hoped the US-Uzbekistan alliance would continue to strengthen, appreciating the country’s vision for the region in terms of interconnected and economically energized corridor.
