KABUL: At least eight security incidents, including targeted killings and explosions, took place across Afghanistan over the past day, according to Afghan Peace Watch.

Four dead bodies of murdered people were found in the Khogyani district of Nangarhar province. The motive behind this incident is uncertain, and no group has claimed responsibility for killings yet.

On Monday night, a civilian, who was identified as Ahmad Idris, was gunned down by armed assailants in Arghandab district of Kandahar. In another murder attempt, several gunmen opened fire on a shopkeeper in PD 9 of Kandahar city on the same night, APW reports.

In the Guzra district of Herat, armed bandits shot dead a tribal elder named Arbab Ghulam. In an incident in Matun Tapa locality of Khost, a civilian was injured after a grenade was thrown onto his house on Monday night.

Meanwhile, border tension between the Taliban and Iran border guards in the Islam Qala border crossing in Herat province has been resolved after the Taliban’s foreign minister Muttaqi held talks with Iranian authorities. Iran has reportedly vowed continued support for the Taliban government and protection of Iran’s diplomatic missions in Afghanistan. Taliban have also released five Iranian border guards who were captured after they crossed into Afghanistan last week.
