KABUL: In the wake of a string of deadly terrorist attacks across Afghanistan, which left dozens of civilians killed, UN Special Rapporteur on the Situation of Human Rights in Afghanistan Richard Benn has emphasized the protection of human rights and the lives of Afghan people.
“I stand with all Afghans suffering loved ones following last week’s tragic assaults and bombings; will continue to watch, demand investigation, and accountability,” he tweeted.
“Afghans’ rights must be protected; violations must be prevented, and international justice must be ensured,” he added.
Benn promised to keep an eye on the situation and called for an inquiry and accountability in the wake of a series of terrorist attacks.
According to Afghan Peace Watch, in last week’s attacks and bombings in Balkh, Kunduz, Nangarhar, and Kabul provinces, at least 80 civilians, including women and children, were killed and 160 people were injured.
