KABUL: A number of Uruzgan province residents chanted ‘Allah u Akbar’ – ‘God is Great’ on Wednesday night, in a move to join nationwide demonstrations in support of the Afghan National Defense and Security Forces (ANDSF).

On 8:00 PM Wednesday night, streets of Terinkot city, capital of Uruzgan province were filled with local residents and displayed their support of Islamic republic and the Afghan defense forces.

The demonstrators during the rally asked both the government and the Taliban to end conflicts and embrace peace.

They also called on the international community to respond to the current crisis in Afghanistan and play its role in finding a peaceful solution to the problem.

Herat and Kabul were first provinces where widespread demonstrations were organized in support of Afghan forces in the face of grown insecurity and Taliban attacks in Afghanistan.

Uruzgan had briefly fallen to the Taliban after heavy clashes with Afghan forces in June, however, it was recaptured by Afghan forces after being the rebels’ control for a day.
