KABUL: Amrullah Saleh, First Vice President, said that the National Resistance Movement (NRM), led by the defense forces, has been mobilized to counter the Taliban attacks.

Afghan President Ashraf Ghani announced the creation of the movement during the Joint Coordination and Monitoring Board Meeting (JBCM), in the presidential palace last Thursday.

Saleh in a tweet on Thursday quoted Ghani as saying, “Every Afghan village and community that have stood up against Taliban terror offensive have been and will be incorporated under the National Resistance Movement to be led by the ANDSF (Afghan National Defense and Security Forces). It is already happening.”

The VP also stressed that Afghanistan would not bow to Taliban proxy or their supporters, referring to the neighboring Pakistan.

Pakistan has repeatedly been called out for its support of insurgent groups, namely the Taliban in Afghanistan.
