KABUL: Taliban’s deputy leader, Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar and his accompanying delegation discussed the current situation of Afghanistan and peace process during a meeting with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi.

A Taliban spokesperson, Mohammad Naeem told AFP on Wednesday that the nine-member delegation assured China that no threats would be posed to any country from Afghanistan.

The militant group has been advancing its control in various regions of Afghanistan since the start of US forces withdrawal.

China has expressed its interest for facilitating Afghan peace. The neighboring country has repeatedly opposed what it termed as hasty and irresponsible withdrawal of US forces from Afghanistan.

China is investing billions of dollar and Pakistan maintains close relations with the Chinese. Pakistan at the meantime main sponsor of the Taliban and militancy in Afghanistan.
