KABUL: Plans for a serious counterattack against the Taliban are underway, and the defense forces are to be relocated to reduce civilian causalities, announced Herat provincial security council in a statement on Thursday, following the Taliban’s recent offense in the Western province.
“Dear fellow citizens of Herat, serious action plans to suppress the enemy are underway. Rest assured, their [Taliban] attacks will not be left unanswered,” read the statement.
It also announced that “To use the defense forces better and reduce the civilian casualties, the security force’s mobilization will be moved to a secondary location from the district centers of Kashk-e-Kohna and Zenda Jan.”
This comes as the Taliban has stepped up their military campaign in various districts across Afghanistan, Herat included.
