National Forces Will Defend Our Homeland and People: Defence Minister

KABUL: Bismillah Mohammadi, Afghan Defence Minister, stated that “war is raging” with the Taliban following the insurgency group’s first major attack on a provincial capital in a statement released this Wednesday.


 


Mohammadi expressed his acknowledgment of the situation, saying, “We recognize that the war is raging and we are in a very sensitive military situation,” hours after the Taliban’s attack on Qala-e-Naw, the capital of Badghis province.


 


In the statement, he assured the nation of government force’s resistance, stating, “I want to reassure all of you that our national forces, with the support of local resistance forces, will use all their power and resources to defend our homeland and our people.”


 


The conflict and alarming increase in violence has left many distressed and concerned with the future of Afghanistan.
