KABUL: Britain could launch airstrikes from outside Afghanistan in case of increased future terroristic threats, said UK armed forces minister, James Heappey on Monday, reported by Sky News.
Heappey said, “We absolutely reserve the right to counter terrorist threats to the United Kingdom that may re-emerge in Afghanistan. I know that that is very much in the thoughts of those who are planning for that eventuality in Afghanistan.”
New York Times had earlier reported that the Pentagon is considering seeking authorization for intervention through warplanes or drones in case of Kabul or any other major city potentially falling to the Taliban.
With the Taliban’s continued offenses, Afghanistan has faced an alarming increase in violence across its territory, leaving many concerned with its stability.
