KABUL: Last of remaining British troops in Afghanistan about to withdraw “within days,” reported Daily Mail this Wednesday.
The report detailed, “More than 200 Black Watch soldiers will fly home, ending the UK’s 20-year deployment which started after 9/11.”
According to the Mail, a flag-lowering ceremony will be held, honoring the killed troops, stating, “Before leaving, they will take part in a flag-lowering ceremony alongside US forces to honor the 456 British troops killed there since the campaign began.”
Sir Laurie Bristow, UK’s ambassador, is expected to join Kabul’s event and remain in Afghanistan after the completed withdrawal.
All the NATO countries are planned to complete their troops’ withdrawal by September 11.
