Pakistani Prime Minister in an op-ed to the Washington Post said that the Taliban would be unable to win Afghanistan militarily and the group should join the government for ending the conflict in the country.

“Our countries have the same interest in that long-suffering country,” Khan said, adding, “we will avoid risking further conflict.”

Imran Khan expressed regret about Pakistan’s previous approach about Afghanistan, writing, “In the past, Pakistan made a mistake by choosing between warring Afghan parties, but we have learned from that experience.”

Pakistani foreign minister, Shah Mehmod Qureishi during an interview with Tolo News on Sunday claimed that Pakistan would help the Afghan government with the Peace Process using their leverage over the Taliban.

Armed confrontations between Afghan forces and the Taliban have increased drastically over the last two months, particularly after the announcement of foreign troops withdrawal.
