Saleh Vows to Defend Afghanistan Values Against Any Emerging Threats

KABUL: First vice-president, Amrullah Saleh has said the government would never fall below enemy standards and would fight any insurgent groups as their national and international responsibility.


 


“In pursuit of our security goals, we will never lower ourselves to enemy standards, divert resources and sacrifice development projects, uphold our international commitments, fight as a State with all its internal and external responsibilities, and will always stand for values and rights,” Saleh tweeted on Monday after meeting with the EU envoy for Afghanistan.


 


He discussed the overall security situation, the government’s current and future measures for improving political situation and strategic enhancement of security and stability in the country, a statement from his press office said Monday.


 



EU envoy, Von Brandt also in a tweet said, “European Union Heads of Missions meeting with @AmrullahSaleh2 on the present security situation, the phenomena of militia development, and how best to continue supporting public safety in Afghanistan.”
