Pakistan’s Jamaat-i-Islami Party Cautioned Islamabad Not to Give Bases to US


KABUL: A powerful Pakistani political party, Jamaat-i-Islami has cautioned Pakistan to avoid giving airbases or military bases to the United States. 

Sirajul Haq, leader of Jamaat-i-Islami party warned to stage protests in Islamabad if Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan provided the US military bases anywhere in the country.

While addressing a large gathering of his supporters, Sirajul Haq assured his party that he would not allow Pakistan’s land to be used against Afghanistan.

“We stand with Afghanistan and want there to be a stable government in keeping with the interests of the Afghans,” he said.

Pakistani Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi earlier dismissed reports that the country would give military bases to the United States.
