BALKH: A number of civil society activists and tribal elders in a gathering in Mazar-e-Sharif, capital of Balkh province, said that there are no any justifications for war after foreign forces withdraw from the country, asking conflict sides to exercise peace and stop bloodshed of their own people.
The gathering was organized by People’s Peace Movement (PPM) in Mazar-e-Sharif under the slogan “Foreigners will leave our country, what is the reason for war?” on Saturday.
Jalaluddin Shirzad, head of PPM for Balkh province, said that foreign troops will withdraw from Afghanistan and therefore there no any justifications left for continuation of war.
On the other hand, a number of civil society activists and tribal elders who participated in the gathering called for ceasefire and an end to conflict.
They asked the warring parties to stop fighting and join the Afghan peace process.
This is while the US president Joe Biden announced the complete withdrawal of foreign troops from Afghanistan by September 11 amidst continued violence in the country.
