KABUL: The Taliban, according to the National Directorate of Security Chief Ahmad Zia Saraj, have no intention of laying down arms or seeking peace and are planning to escalate the conflict across the region.
Addressing a press conference in Kabul, Saraj emphasized that since the start of the new solar year, the group has escalated its attacks on Afghan forces.
“The Taliban are gearing up for a war. The group has no desire to live in peace. The group’s members are busy harvesting poppies, and they (Taliban militants) are planning attacks across various parts of the country,” Saraj said.
Since the beginning of the Afghan year, the Taliban insurgents have launched coordinated attacks against Afghan Security and Defense Forces (ANSDF) in many provinces.
On the other hand, security officials say that Afghan forces have conducted several combat operations in response to the Taliban’s fresh violence in the country.
